22) What distance to the right of a fulcrum would 60 pounds
need to be placed for the lever to be balanced, if 75 pounds were
2 feet to the left of the fulcrum?
75 * 2 = x * 60
150 = 60x
2.5 = x
The 60 pounds would need to be placed 2 feet and 6 inches to the
right of the fulcrum for the lever to be balanced.
Incidentally, to convert decimal numbers of feet fractions to
inches, simply multiply by 12. For instance 0.75 (feet) * 12
= 9 (inches).
